Hi Ram, I can hear how torn you are feeling between the responsibilities of caring for your family and wanting to follow your dreams. It sounds like at this point you feel that you're not contributing to the world in the way you hope to. You know, following a dream or being of service or contributing doesn't always have to mean leaving your current job. Yes, you are unique and special and you have unique gifts and it is wonderful that you have that awareness. At the same time I get a sense that you haven't totally identified what you're passionate about. I would suggest that you take some time to journal and go on a journey inside to connect with "what am I truly passionate about?". Sometimes we get caught up in the idea that our gifts or service should be "glamorous" - you mention performing - but that can have different aspects.. you might "perform" by being a story teller to sick children in the hospital... or you might sing in a choir. Perhaps you are gifted with what you see in the world and you'd enjoy photography. So, take some time... ask yourself - what is missing in your life right now? What hunger in your heart are you trying to still? What happened to your interest in IT - because you studied it... so there must be something there... feel free to reconnect and share your insights.

Hi Ina,
It's really gr8 to read ur blogs and articles..it's really encouraging..I am facing very unique problem, tat I'm struggling to get some answers..
I'm currently 34 and having a 1 year Kid. I have 11+ years of experience in IT Industry and Teaching after my studies..For the last few years (3 years), my mind is very much telling (torturing) me tat I'm not doing "What I meant for"..This feeling is very much painful and I can't concentrate on my present..I strongly believe that I am doing something (IT field)..irrelevant..I don't want to die like everyone else..I know I'm unique and born to do something extra-ordinary..
As many of my friends told me that I may perform well @ arts (drawing, music, acting etc.,)..But, considering my age, i'm very much scared that I may put my family @ risk, if I'm going to follow my dreams now!!
I'm torturing myself by asking so many questions and not getting proper answers!!
Please, help ,me to come out of this feelings!!
Thanks.

Thank you for commenting :) and I agree... substance abuse destroys dreams and hold you back from your goal... unfortunately sometimes people turn to substance abuse because they have lost hope and courage or have been hurt and disappointed too many times to believe their goals are worh pursuing
