Celebrating the Divinity and Beauty Within You
Are You Harder on Yourself Than Anyone Else?
One of the most common struggles I witness in my work as a counsellor is the belief of not being good enough.
Many people carry a harsh inner critic that constantly reminds them of their perceived flaws, mistakes, and shortcomings. Over time, these negative messages can become deeply ingrained. They begin to feel like facts rather than thoughts.
Unfortunately, these old stories often shape how we view ourselves, our relationships, and our place in the world.
The Impact of Negative Self-Talk
Negative self-talk can quietly influence every aspect of life.
It may tell you that you should be more successful, more attractive, more productive, or more accomplished. It may convince you that everyone else has it figured out while you are somehow falling behind.
As a result, feelings of self-doubt, anxiety, shame, and inadequacy can grow stronger.
Many people spend years trying to earn their worth through achievement, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or constant self-improvement. Yet no amount of external success can heal a wound created by believing you are not enough.
Rediscovering Your Worth
Healing begins when we challenge these old beliefs and reconnect with our authentic selves.
Each person possesses unique gifts, strengths, wisdom, and beauty. However, these qualities can be difficult to recognize when self-criticism dominates the conversation.
Learning to treat yourself with compassion is not selfish. In fact, self-compassion allows you to approach life’s challenges with greater resilience, confidence, and emotional well-being.
When you begin to see yourself through a kinder lens, transformation becomes possible.
Honouring Courage and Growth
One of the greatest privileges of my work is witnessing the courage people bring to their healing journeys.
Every day, I meet individuals who choose to face difficult emotions, challenge limiting beliefs, and create meaningful change in their lives.
Healing requires vulnerability. Growth requires courage. Yet both become possible when we allow ourselves to be seen, heard, and supported.
Even during life’s most challenging moments, there is beauty in the willingness to keep moving forward.
Celebrating the Divinity Within
Each of us carries an inner light that deserves recognition and appreciation.
Rather than focusing solely on what needs fixing, consider celebrating what is already whole within you. Acknowledge your strengths. Honour your resilience. Recognize your capacity for love, growth, and healing.
You are far more than your mistakes, fears, or insecurities.
Today, I invite you to pause and appreciate the beauty, courage, and wisdom that already exist within you.
As a reflection of this message, I would like to share a beautiful piece of poetry by Donna Henes that celebrates the divinity, strength, and uniqueness found within every human being.
May it serve as a gentle reminder that you are worthy, valuable, and enough exactly as you are.
